Daylong Event Showcases Leadership, Entrepreneurship, and Career Pathways for Women and Students<\/span><\/h2>\n

The <\/span>Women in Business Summit <\/span><\/a>will bring together leaders, students, and professionals at the Â鶹ÊÓƵ;Verne for a daylong event focused on leadership, entrepreneurship, and emerging models in commerce. Founded and led by alumna Marcella Camberos, MBA \u201910, EdD \u201922, the summit will feature keynote speakers, panel discussions, and breakout sessions highlighting a variety of career pathways.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Camberos, a first-generation Latina with more than 20 years of experience in human resources and career development, said the Â鶹ÊÓƵ;Verne was a natural setting for the event. She earned both her master\u2019s and doctoral degrees at the university and has remained connected to its academic and community-oriented mission.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe Â鶹ÊÓƵ;Verne shaped me in every way,\u201d Camberos said. \u201cIt was a safe space where I was allowed to ask questions, and the faculty were accessible and invested in our growth.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Speakers and panelists at the March 21 summit at the Campus Center Ballroom represent a variety of industries, including brick-and-mortar businesses, e-commerce, hybrid business models, and technology-driven platforms. Sessions are designed to provide attendees with practical insight into entrepreneurship and career development.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIf you\u2019re going to come to this summit, you\u2019re going to see a variety of business models,\u201d Camberos said. \u201cThere\u2019s really something for everybody, whether you\u2019re a student, an emerging leader, or someone already running a business.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The event also highlights women of color in leadership roles, an intentional focus for Camberos. As a Hispanic-Serving Institution, ULV provides a context that aligns with the summit\u2019s emphasis on representation and access to leadership opportunities.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI would have loved to see a successful Latina keynote speaker when I was a student,\u201d Camberos said. \u201cThis summit is about showing what\u2019s possible and making those pathways visible.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Camberos currently leads Velvet Anchor, a leadership development company focused on supporting women, particularly women of color, in building leadership skills and professional confidence. \u201cComing back to the Â鶹ÊÓƵ;Verne feels like coming home,\u201d Camberos said. \u201cIt\u2019s meaningful to bring this event to the place that played such a big role in my journey.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
